Gears For Breakfast’s Kickstarter, A Hat in Time, is getting a slew of new content. A Hat in Time, released in 2017, aimed at gamer’s who reminisced the “glory” days of the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 3D platformers. Now, the developer has announced a few new experiences on the horizon for its nostalgic title.
The trailer below introduces a new DLC expansion titled Seal the Deal. Seal the Deal will have new time rifts and a new chapter, which places the player on a cruise ship ran by a Walrus as the captain.
The DLC offers filters to place over your game with one particularly giving it a nostalgic N64-style makeover. Filters are not the only cosmetic features added as there will be new outfits for the character as well.
Also announced is a free co-op multiplayer mode and a long-awaited Nintendo Switch version.
Seal the Deal and split-screen co-op will be releasing first on the PC and will be free on launch day on September 13. After that, the DLC will cost $4.99.
Writer’s Opinion:
A Hat in Time has always looked like a blast from the past. One of my favorite genres of gaming has always been 3D platforms, with titles like Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64 peaking that love for such games. I’ve been holding out on buying A Hat in Time because I was hoping for it to be released on the Nintendo Switch, a title I find perfect for the console, similar to what I did with Yooka-Laylee. As for the DLC, the gameplay and atmosphere seem very interactive and the addition of filters and outfits shows that this DLC is packed full of great new content for a reasonable price. Then there is co-op coming to the game, which makes this news all the worthwhile. My only concern is when will the DLC and new modes come to other platforms as these announcements are only for PC.
